Buying smartphone, any suggestions worth considering?

I am planning to buy a smartphone for myself, but amidst so many smartphones, it is quite difficult to choose the one that suits me best and have good features. I would like to tell you that this is gonna be my first smartphone, so I thought putting the question right here. I have got no experience what things is it to consider when buying a smartphone.

Anyone with a good idea or suggestion on how to buy a decent smartphone?

You are absolutely correct my friend, between so many smartphones and deals, it is quite a trouble in choosing the appropriate one. When buying my first smartphone, I was also confused and I similarly like you took the help from one of my friend who is really a technical freak. He had told me some worth that I would like to share with you

1. Choose the one with best operating systems such as android or iOS
2. Always buy a smartphone from the best service provider in your city
3. If you are looking for exciting applications, go for smartphones like iPhone or Samsung Galaxy SII.
4. Look for a smartphone with good data plan
5. Read smart phones review of users on the web, it helps a lot

Why don't you go for smartphones such as iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy, LG optimus or HTC. All these are the current favorites in the market.
